Community sports clubs, grounds and facilities are often right at the heart of the community, providing much needed access to sport and physical activity, helping to build stronger communities by bringing people together.
This award recognises grounds teams and/or individuals who are dedicated to providing the best possible playing surfaces for their local community, making sport possible for everyone.
The award considers the quality achieved with the available resources such as making the most of what budget is available to the individual/team, use of machinery and level of sport required.
Who can enter?
This award is open to grassroots and/or recreational sports clubs. Both teams and individuals who are full-time, part-time, or a volunteer are eligible to enter. The award is judged taking into account the 12 months prior to the award category application submission date.
Entry / Nomination criteria:
Individuals and/or teams can enter or be nominated by an employer or manager or third-party.
Judging Criteria:
The judges will be looking for evidence to support your entry in the following areas:
- Evidence of optimising and/or maximising budget and resources available
- Evidence of use of appropriate and safe use of machinery and/or equipment.
- Evidence of continual development, learning and implementation
- Evidence of dedication and/or going above and beyond to support your team, club, project etc.
- Evidence of community and social impact – this can include community use, school use and other community-focused initiatives or programmes.
